Whittier, you are located in Los Angeles County about twelve miles southeast of the City of Los Angeles.

Your city was named after Quaker John Greenleaf Whittier, a famous writer, newspaper editor and poet. Mr. Whittier was never able to visit the town that bears his name, but he did write and dedicate a poem in honor of this wonderful new city.
